Israel Railways purchased 75 wagons of this type as part of the Holocaust Reparations Agreement. They were meant to renew the covered van fleet, used mainly to carry citrus for export.

When the carriage of citrus dwindled, they were converted to carry loose grain. This was loaded through roof ports and discharged by tipping the wagon on to its end.

This van had its original wooden sides replaced by steel sheets.
